Shower Thoughts

with 11 Comments

I decided to write this post in the bathroom.

Recently, we moved into a new apartment. We already had basically everything we needed to move in, but one thing we didn’t have was a shower curtain. As we approached the shower curtain section of our local bedroom, bathroom, and otherwise store we both knew exactly what we would buy. We’d casually mentioned buying a world map shower curtain in the past, but hadn’t yet been faced with the need/opportunity for a shower curtain of our own.

Everyone knows we do some of our best mental work in the shower; maybe it’s the hot water, the nudity, or the relaxation. Whatever it is, adding a world map to the equation turns your shower into the fortress in which you’ll plan to take over the world one country at a time. Having the map in the shower lets you draw out prospective backpacking routes through South East Asia. Or you can count the number of states you’ve visited (for me it’s 26), or plan a road trip cross-country, you’ll see what I mean.

Anyone who aspires to be a Jeopardy Champion one day ought to invest $15 in a world map shower curtain. How else are you going to know that the capital of Djibouti is Djibouti? Or learn the names of all those Canadian provinces? Within a few months your general understanding of global geography will have vastly improved. You’re going to learn the locations of countries, cities, islands, rivers, and seas you’ve probably never even heard of previously.

If you’re looking for travel inspiration, or you’re just not sure where you want to go next, get yourself a world map shower curtain. It’ll change your life!

I am afraid that if I bought one of these, I’d never leave the shower.

haha this is great! I had a good laugh reading this. I would love that shower curtain, although I, too, fear I’d get so distracted dreaming up my next place and seeing how many other ones I can include on a road trip and then my shower will go on and on…cute idea though! Perfect for travel lovers!
