Penang, Malaysia is a bit more expensive than some of the other destinations we've lived in, but you really make up for it in lifestyle. Penang has wide roads, orderly traffic, and huge shopping malls where you can find ANYTHING. Yet, Penang still manages to have very inexpensive local food that will have your mouth watering. What keeps us coming back to Penang is the cultural diversity. There are Malays, Indians, Chinese, and Westerners all cohabiting this island without much conflict whatsoever. Penang is a must visit for any digital nomad in Southeast Asia.
