FAQ

What is Local Nomads?

Local Nomads is a adventurous community of dynamic hard working globally minded individuals who share a passion for experiencing the world. In other words we work, so we can travel, and we’re damn good at it.

Who is it for?

Anyone who has a hunger for experiencing the world and can support themselves while traveling.

Remote workers, freelancers, entrepreneurs, adventurers.

People seeking more to life than just a career.

Community minded people who like to collaborate.

Do I need a job?

“Job” can mean a lot of things to different people...

The idea is to learn how to support yourself while traveling.

Having a remote job is just one way to support yourself.

This isn’t a vacation. This is your life.

“Long-term travel doesn't require a massive bundle of cash;

it requires only that we walk through the world in a more deliberate way.”

-Rolf Potts Vagabonding

Is it safe?

Depending on your previous travel experience or where you come from in the world, the answer to this question will vary. Generally speaking, of course it is safe. As with everywhere in the world and most big cities, there are always going to be places to avoid during specific times of day. Although there is always going to be some assumed risk associated with international travel, we make it a point to keep you informed of all possible scenarios. Being mindful of your surroundings and your personal feelings within a specific environment will be your number 1 survival tool during this journey. Local government resources are also available to help travelers stay informed of political climates and cultural differences.

  • The U.S. State Department. The State Department provides country reports and security assessments on every country we visit. (If you’re from the US, you should join STEP as well.) Also, we have a relationship with the U.S. Embassy in nearly every country we visit.
  • Local Teams. We feel that nothing is more valuable than local knowledge when it comes to safety. We have full-time staff members in each of the cities we visit and they provide you with firsthand safety advice regarding what neighborhoods or areas should be avoided, local do's and don'ts, etc.

How's the weather?

Weather in SE Asia is typically very warm, with occasional rain. Weather can sometimes change quickly from hot and humid to cool and stormy.
